Meeting at National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC)

A meeting between Surveyor General of Pakistan, CEO of National Information Technology Board (NITB) and MD of National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) was held on 20 November 2025 at NTC Headquarters, Islamabad. The session was also attended by the NTC technical team. During the meet, Surveyor General briefed about Survey of Pakistan’s ongoing geospatial initiatives including the production of high-resolution 3D urban models using VTOL UAVs to support smart digital governance in urban areas. A video demonstration showcasing 3D model prepared from high-resolution UAV mapping of a small area of Islamabad was presented along with the proposal to develop Islamabad’s 3D Digital Twin model in collaboration with NITB and NTC teams.

 

The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration among SoP, NTC and NITB with consensus on forming a strategic tri-party partnership to leverage the strengths of all three organizations. While working together under this framework for any future projects, NTC will provide data-center hosting and connectivity for government datasets and strengthen ICT infrastructure while SoP will contribute geospatial data while NITB will develop IT applications/ data services utilizing AI/ML technologies. It was agreed that an MoU, followed by formation of a joint Working Group will be done in coming days to formalize and operationalize this partnership.

 

Surveyor General also highlighted SoP’s initiative to establish Pakistan’s National Spatial Data Infrastructure (Pak-NSDI), emphasizing its importance for integrated planning and data-driven governance at all administrative levels. MD NTC appreciated SoP’s efforts and reaffirmed NTC’s support, particularly in planning and executing the ICT components of this project
