Study Visit of Civil Engineering Students from National Skills University to Survey of Pakistan

A group of students from the Civil Engineering Department of National Skills University Islamabad accompanied by their faculty member visited the Headquarters of Survey of Pakistan (SoP) Rawalpindi as part of an academic study tour aimed at enhancing their practical understanding of surveying and geospatial sciences

During the visit, the students were given a comprehensive presentation highlighting the organizational structure, core functions and national responsibilities of SoP. The briefing also covered the complete map-making process including data collection, processing and cartographic production along with an overview of modern surveying techniques currently being used by SoP

They were apprised about the application of advanced technologies such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), total stations and UAV photogrammetry and mapping. A practical demonstration of modern surveying equipment was also conducted providing the students with hands-on exposure and an opportunity to observe the operational use of contemporary surveying instruments, followed by an interactive question and answer session. This visit was part of SoP’s Domestic Outreach Program meant to raise awareness among academia about geospatial domain
