New Generation National Geodetic Datum of Pakistan
The 6th Project Coordinating Group Meeting for the Project Establishment of New Generation National Geodetic Datum of Pakistan was held on 11 December 2025 at Headquarters SoP, Islamabad. A delegation from the National Geomatics Center of China (NGCC) and senior officials of SoP attended the meeting to review progress since the 5th Project Coordinating Group Meeting held in China during September 2025. Both sides reviewed the progress of Annual Work Plan 2025 and finalized the of Annual Work Plan 2026. It was agreed that SoP will complete GNSS and benchmark civil works by end-2025, CORS station civil works by February 2026, tide gauge station and leveling origin works by April 2026, leveling and GNSS observations by July 2026 and gravity observations by September 2026. Operational arrangements for gravity surveys including customs facilitation, security, transportation and technical coordination were coordinated and agreed upon by both sides. The Gravity Check Survey Plan will be shared by SoP with NGCC in January 2026. Both sides agreed to expedite the process of establishing the Demonstration CORS Stations and Map Demonstration System, and also carried out coordination for the next training batch to be sent to China in April 2026. NGCC also presented the broad concept of the next proposed project to be taken up as a follow up to the existing project.
